This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

East Lansing is in Michigan, in the Midwest, where summers are warm, winters are cold and snowy, and most errands are done by car; businesses keep steady year-round hours with the usual holiday changes. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and East Lansing follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Our date night at The Local Epicurean in East Lansing was truly one of the highlights of our summer. ❤️ My mom gifted us a gift card, and while I had been before, this was Carey’s first experience—and we had the BEST time. There was something so special about spending the evening together actually making our dinner. We made laminated pasta, spinach purée-infused pasta, and tiramisu for dessert, all paired with wines recommended by their team. The whole experience was romantic, interactive, relaxed, and absolutely delicious. And the food didn’t end when the evening did—we left with SO much pasta that we were able to share it with my parents and our friends’ parents. 🥰 It was more than just a dinner. It was an experience, a date, a memory, and a whole lot of really good food. If you’re looking for something unique and special to do together, The Local Epicurean is absolutely worth it. Thank you for such a beautiful evening! We’ll definitely be back. 🍝🍷❤️

Our experience here was fun and we learned a lot. We made spinach pasta and seared scallops in a mushroom cream sauce. Our instructor, Raina, was very patient and helpful with the whole experience.

My lovely friends took me to this amazing experiential cooking venue for my birthday and boy was it a treat! While this gem is semi new to the Lansing area, we need to make sure it sticks around! Brandon, our chef, who walked us thru the Raviolo Brunch class was kind and patient with our late as always group but never rushed us to make up for time lost. The food turned out so great! And you get to take home instructions on what you made. Nick the bartender gave great drink recommendations and even talked with us about their signature infused liquors and how he makes them. Overall, 10/10, or 5⭐️ for this hidden gem! If you’re looking for something to do with your group this is it!!

Attended a family event & had a great time! Instructors were knowledgeable & gave clear instructions - plus they made sure everyone had fun. The food we made was delicious and we all felt like professional chefs - ha! There was very good wine by the glass & I appreciated the pairing suggestions (which were printed on the menu we got to take home). There were also high quality products for sale in the store section of the room. Finally, I want to give a shout-out for the cleanliness of the facility - which was noticed & appreciated. Overall this was a very good experience.

Went with my family to a cooking class to celebrate a birthday. Staff was kind, intelligent, and fun to be around. The food was delicious and the portions were great. Came home with leftovers! Some of us already signed up for another class. Thanks for a wonderful experience, team!
